That’s How a Village Boy Turned Into an Online Entrepreneur

We are the most fortunate generation to witness a drastic shift in technology. We are the generation who witnessed a shift from traditional ways of communication to simple mobile phones to amazingly powerful and really “smarter than humans” smartphones.

We are the very generation to witness literally no internet era (particularly in India) to the evolution of Web 5.0. We witnessed a simple static HTML web page to the development of extremely dynamic and responsive websites and web applications.

We are evident of Google, from a newborn child to its adolescence to a full-grown adult that’s what we know as Google, which is literally ruling the internet world. Or you may like to remove the word “Internet” and like to say “Ruling the world”.

Recently, we saw how artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning have started to dominate every aspect of our lives. Conversational and Generational AI language models like ChatGPT, Dalle – E, Google’s Bard, and Microsoft’s Prometheus.

The emergence of GSM and CDMA Mobile telephony from 2G to 3G to 4G and now 5G in 2023 is happening in front of our eyes.

We, ourselves, witnessed the first-ever biggest economic shift in history. Especially in India, where a hefty percentage of Indian GDP depended upon Agriculture, now the service sector has taken over its place.

Considering the above facts, I feel that we are the most fortunate generation of human beings to witness these developments. Among other developments, the massive expansion of the Internet and IOT is something that fascinates me a lot. And I would not be wrong if I say – “Internet is something that altered the way we think, the way we eat, the way we sleep, the way we entertain ourselves, and the very way we live, literally… Isn’t it?

If you think about your life 10-20 years back and compare it with today’s you’ll be amazed how everything around you changed.

In around 2006-2007, I was among the first guys in my locality to get introduced to the internet for the very first time. It was a Chinese feature(multimedia) phone of the Sigmatel brand. Sigmatel and Nokia were among the first movers in the mobile phone market.

It was the 2G era of mobile phones where I used to download music ringtones from the “” site at barely 2-3 Kbps of internet speed.

Here, I’d like to mention that India was among the countries where the Internet came later than other first-tier countries like the USA.

There happened to be a fight between us brothers to play the Snake Xenzia game on Nokia mobile phone(Nokia 1100) owned by my neighboring uncle. Having even a black and white mobile phone was considered a luxury at that time. Well, that’s another matter that now we change our Smartphones 2 times a year. See how we changed in the past 10-15 years…

A few times later, I had a chance to use my friend’s LG Phone (with a colorful display) where I learned about downloadable Java Games for the very first time.

In those phones, there was no such thing as accessible Internal storage in mobile phones. But, in this LG mobile phone, I was shocked and amazed at the same time to see the 23 MB of internal storage. We used to download games from “” site, install on that LG phone and enjoy playing.

This was the very time when I became fond of the Internet (as a user).

Striving for and getting a Government job is always an aspiration of the youth in the society I was brought up. Following the same, I joined a Government organization in 2014. Meanwhile, by looking at the popularity of mobile phones I joined a certificate course in mobile engineering(repairing) and started a shop for mobile sales and services with my friend.

During the same year, I bought my first Android mobile phone Samsung Galaxy Core – II. Once I got this phone, the whole world of the Internet, YouTube, Mobile Games & Applications appeared in front of me. Somewhere during the same year, 3G mobile services were launched.

Till 2015, I was skeptical about the fact that one can choose Internet marketing or content creation as a career option. However, I got familiar with words like Google Adsense, Content marketing, Blogging, etc. till then.

During the second half of 2016, I bought my first laptop Dell Inspiron 5559 to explore online earning opportunities. At that time, there was a huge trend of online earning apps like ChampCash. They had the option to withdraw earned money as Bitcoin. However, it was a totally new concept to me.

Since then, I have never looked back.

I learned and explored whatever came my way. Most of the terms and concepts related to the Internet marketing and online earning were new to me. One thing I would like to mention is that I used to read a lot of articles on the Internet about Internet Marketing, Online Earning, etc, though my English was not so good nor is it perfect till now. LOL.

YouTube didn’t have as much content on every topic as it is today. Additionally, mobile data was costly, being the reason for I to consume so much textual content rather than videos. This improved my English and gave me an in-depth understanding of any topic I read.

Unlike other Govt. employees, I was sure that job is not something I am meant for even for 20 years till volunteer retirement like most of the Govt. employees do. Being tech-savvy, I somehow tested the laptop lifestyle and wanted it so badly. This enabled me to dive deeper into the Internet marketing industry.

Another thing I would like to mention here is that my job environment was not so conducive to growth and I wanted to fly high.

The finances of my family were not so good as to allow me to quit my job without building a solid financial foundation. During 2016 I got introduced to a colleague(Now my best friend and partner) who further introduced me to motivational speakers like Sandeep Maheshwari and Vivek Bindra. Their speeches converted my desire for financial freedom into a burning desire.

Till 2017, I was sure that Internet Marketing is something in which I’m going to build my career. Since then I interacted with 100s of online gurus, learned tons of things, explored and started multiple projects and online businesses (including trading in Indian stock market), and yes, faced lots of challenges. Meanwhile, generated money as well.

In the next post, I’ll cover the rest of the story including “Which gurus I learned from?”, “The biggest challenges I faced as a beginner internet marketer”, “Which methods I tried to generate money”, “Which so-called Internet marketing gurus cheated me”, “How much money I made from which method”, etc.

So, Stay tuned…
